we introduced all of our new farm babies and it was so cute!! I can’t wait for them all to continue to get to know each other and the pups to learn their job

New cows, puppies, and a kitten all in one week. It’s actually been really fun! And one of the best parts has been introducing all the farm animals to each other.
The goats have gotten to know the cows pretty well. But they’re still a bit skeptical of the new pups and have keeping their distance. They’ll warm up though!
All loaded up and ready to meet their new friends!
This was hilarious. Mary came to see what was going on first, and she wasn’t so sure about them…
Now Sally wants to see what these little white fluffballs running around in her pasture are all about
Mary decides they’re pretty cute and harmless and goes in for an obligatory lick of approval
Howie getting the hang of this guardian thing – just lay here, look cute, watch cows, repeat
Time for the big gals to say goodbye to their new friends for the morning – we have more chores to do and more new animals to meet!
a puppy photo shoot by the water tank just because
Howie – lookin’ cute as can be
He’s originally the one puppy I picked out
I mean, look at hiiiiiim – so cuuuuuttte
But his sister Ranger (on the right) ended up coming with us too and I’m glad we have a pair because I’ve had many people tell me since I got them how social they are and how much better they do in pairs
Now its time to meet the pigs!
They’re huge – but they’re super gentle! We have three right now and they’ll be ready for bacon making in a few weeks. We’ve talked about getting some more baby pigs this summer, but I’m not sure yet – we will see! I’d eventually love to raise our own, but for now we just buy feeders.
The pups hugged the fence almost the entire time, I don’t think they were too fond of the pigs!
Poor piggies, always judged by their muddy snouts and scary grunts
The pups had enough – but it was a start!
We finished feeding the cows and pigs and meeting new animals for the day!
And I really did think we were done with new animals for a bit, but we’ve been looking for a barn cat for a few months and this little cutie just lost her momma
She’s maybe 5 weeks old. I named her Valor, but the kids quickly overturned me and now she is Mittens. Mittens the kitten.
I’m giving her goats milk and she’s already litter box trained – so we will probably keep her inside for a month or so then start letting her go between the house and out around the farm. I think it worked out well getting her at the same time as the pups so they’ll be used to each other.
The kids have always liked coming along and helping with chores, and they’re especially loving it with all the new animals.
Mary the heifer greets me with a big hug every time I walk in the gate. She walks up and wraps her neck around me and the kids think it’s hilarious. I can’t believe how sweet and gentle Jerseys are, just like everyone said – they have such funny personalities. So glad I found these girls!
And you know, like I said the goats are feeling a bit slighted and Barney was not afraid to let me know it with some serious attitude. But don’t worry friends, they’re still getting lots of attention and I still milk my momma Nubian Sophie every morning.
Oh – I forgot about Hanky’s new friend – Gary the frog. Hank spends a lot of time outside and probably finds at least one frog a day – names it Gary every. time.
He calls it his pet and attempts to bring it in the house and sometimes succeeds.
Hankers is also the family chicken whisperer and really enjoys bossing them around and pointing at them and barking orders. We’ve been making sure the new puppies get plenty of time around the chickens every day too and that they’re gentle with them. That is the main reason we got the pups, after all – to protect the flock.
That’s it for now! Within the next week or two, the chickens will get to meet the cows and goats and the pups will move start spending their days with all the farm animals.
But for now, they make super cute riding buddies!
