This post is about lavender essential oil uses and benefits. It’s such a diverse oil, so don’t just let it sit on your shelf, this is one you can easily use daily!
One question I get a lot is: do I have to use oils every day to get the benefits?
My answer is – it depends. First, let’s review what oils are – because they’re a lot less complicated than you may think! I’m not an expert, but when I think in terms of the plants they come from – it’s easier for me to appreciate oils.
Essential oils are essentially – just liquid plants. It takes a ton of one plant to distill down into a little bottle of oil. So, if its pure essential oil – it shouldn’t be cheap. I only use young living oils because I trust their farming and process 100%. And you all know the process of growing plants is very important to me!
So, naturally – some plant oils have more specific benefits, and wouldn’t be beneficial for everyday use. Like clary sage which is great for getting things going around your due date. That’s a specific benefit that you wouldn’t need every day. There are lots of specific oils like that.
But lavender is more of a daily oil, and here’s why –
Its so diverse! Which is why its often called the Swiss Army knife of oils. I bought my first oil kit almost 4 years ago – and didn’t touch it for 3 of those years! I was so intimidated by them, I just stuck them up high in a cabinet and forgot about them.
Don’t do that!
They’re just plants. They’re safe, easy to use, and will change your lifestyle for the better in such a simple way.

Shall we begin?
Let’s talk about five daily lavender essential oil uses and benefits I actually implement in my own personal life!
1. Improved Sleep Quality
Let me just say, we aren’t bad sleepers. We’re awesome sleepers! Since I stopped chemical medical treatments for the kids a few years ago, our chronic earaches, viruses, and illnesses have stopped and so now, we sleep like normal people. Praise & Hallelujah. However, using lavender oil for more restful sleep doesn’t have to happen because you’re in some big sleep crisis.
It has a calming, soothing effect thats perfect for bedtime. And it also can really improve the quality of our rest, too.
Lavender research has shown that when we diffuse it overnight or apply it (I make a sleepy time back rub roller blend for my babes) we get into a deep sleep faster and stay there. This helps our whole body rest, recover, recharge, and stay healthier.
There’s a diffuser in every bedroom in our house, and lavender is a favorite for overnight diffusing. So whether you add a few drops to your diffuser at night or give your babes lavender back rubs – deep, sound sleep is the bomb. Plus, I love how much my kids look forward to our nightly routine.
[yes it’s safe for babies too if it’s truly pure oil.]
2. Healing and Soothing Skin
This list could be realllllly long. Lavender has moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties – so it’s a go to for any skin issue. Rashes, scars, scrapes, cuts, blemishes, wrinkles, dryness – all. the. things.
Oh, and burns!! Lavender is the very first thing I grab when we have a burn. I put some right on the site and the anti-inflammatory properties work wonders to minimize burn effects!
But one thing I specifically wanted the share is how I use it for my own skin daily. I’m a very low maintenance skin person. No big routine here, and tbh, most days I don’t do anything to my face. No makeup, no washing, nothing. But, this is super quick and easy and I am getting older so I try to do this every day.
Lavender Skin Glow Serum
- 25 drops lavender
- 25 drops patchouli
- 25 drops frankincense
- Combine all three oils in an empty 5ml amber oil bottle.
- Get your hands wet, then add a drop or two to your hands and rub them together – this makes a ‘serum’ that will apply really evenly to your face and give you a healthy glow while moisturizing, healing blemishes, and minimizing pores and wrinkles.
3. Improved Brain Function
This one is so cool! We all encounter so many toxins every day whether we like it or not, and that stresses our body and brain which can make us moody, or even lead to really serious diseases.
Lavender is a natural antioxidant and there are actually studies that show inhaling it daily reduces oxidative stress and improves brain function and behavior! If I had a daycare or was a teacher I’d probably be diffusing this alllllll day!
I mean, I do have mom brain so that right there is reason alone to diffuse lavender daily.
4. LLP – Natural Sensitivity Remedy
Ok friends – this is a classic way to combine complementary plants to get an amazing effect on something specific – seasonal or specific sensitivities. Which are super common and they suck! I got shots for years as a kid and used to take meds and need an inhaler regularly.
Everything we breathe in enters our lungs, then our bloodstream, then every cell in our body.
Breathing in lavender, lemon, and peppermint is the ultimate natural remedy for sensitivities because it reduces inflammation, breaks down secretions, and supports the immune system.
Anyone who knows me personally knows that I was deathly allergic to animals until my mid twenties. I think you all can see I don’t have that problem anymore! And I really attribute it to living a non-toxic lifestyle like eating better, not drinking much, you know all the healthy things. The years of medical treatments sadly didn’t work at all, so I’m thankful lifestyle changes have helped.
To get the benefits of LLP, you can diffuse them together, or make up a roller bottle and apply it to your skin!
5. Immune Support
This is a big one! While you’re diffusing lavender overnight or throughout your day mixed with any number of oils, you’re doing your immune system a huge favor in supporting its ability to function naturally.
We already talked about lavender’s anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties so this point just makes sense. One way to pair lavender especially if you’ve got sickness going around your house – is with Thieves oil. Diffuse them together or roll them up and down the spine for extra immune support.
It’s also about what lavender is taking the place of!
Something I’ve thought a lot about is not just the benefits of getting essential oils into our hands and home – but the benefits of what we’ve been able to get out of our bodies by replacing with oils.
Candles, incense, plug-ins, sprays, lotions, soaps, creams, medicines, and all of the stuff that’s super common in most homes is so toxic! I don’t really worry about trying to control our external environment and the things we encounter when we leave the house – because it is what it is!! But I do have control over what we use and bring into our home. Getting rid of chemicals and replacing them with plant oils does give me peace of mind, and protects our bodies from so much!
I hope you’re inspired to put that bottle of lavender to use and see the benefits over time!
