Slow Cooker Applesauce

Ok, I could have sworn I published this recipe last fall!!  I really think I did!  But when I went to look for it, it was nowhere to be found.  So alas, applesauce.  Warm, cinnamon-y, comfort food-y slow cooker applesauce.

The photos are from this past fall – and I am not at all wishing summer away, but ahhhh – fall.  I love you.  Your crisp, fresh air.  Your colors.  Your sweaters.  Yeah.

We live about a quarter of a mile down the road from an orchard, so going apple crazy in the fall is non-negotiable.

I don’t always dress like Johnny Cash, but when I do its to model a bowl of apples for a blog post.  Jk. Thats just what I happened to be wearing because I was feeling edgy.

Oh, and that golden morning light……sigh……

Ok, on with the recipe.

  • 10 Honeycrisp apples
  • 1 Cup water
  • 1/2 Cup brown sugar (optional)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/ 4 tsp nutmeg

  1. Peel, core, and chop apples into small pieces.
  2. Place all ingredients in a slow cooker and combine.
  3. Cook on low for 6 hours.
  4. Mash with a fork or potato masher.
  5. Serve hot or cold or can and preserve.
